How do I get the advertised price of $25.70 for home phone service?
The $25.70 advertised price includes a Lifeline discount that is added to your account after activation of your service. You will first be activated at the regular price of $38.45. You must then submit the Lite-Up Texas application. Once that is approved, we will be notified by the Texas LIDA and we will add the Lifeline discount to your service.
The Lifeline Discount - The Lifeline discount is automatically added to your account once qualification is verified through the Texas Low Income Discount Administrator (LIDA). According to the Texas PUC, all Lifeline recipients must register at https://www.liteuptexas.org/NewForm/ or by calling 1-866-454-8387. Once we are notified by the Texas LIDA that your are registered, your account will begin receiving the monthly discount.
What happened to Link Up? There used to be a Link Up Credit to help pay for activation.
The FCC released an order on February 6, 2012 to reform the low-income program of the Universal Service Fund. In this order, the FCC eliminated Link Up for non-Tribal areas. The elimination of Link Up was effective 4/1/2012.
